ABOUT STEVE
Never far from a pencil and crayon, Steve grew up amongst the tumbleweeds and sagebrush of eastern Washington where he spent many a blissful hour drawing space ships, fast cars and cowboys. His efforts paid off, landing him a staff position as artist for his grade school newspaper. Later, his drawings evolved into designs of buildings and a degree in architecture. After graduating from Washington State University, Steve rode the Oregon Trail to Portland where he staked out a successful design career.
Further education from the Oregon School of Arts and Crafts and the Pacific Northwest College of Art led to opportunities in commercial illustration. Combining successes in architecture and the watercolor medium, this “kid at heart” has gone back to his first love of drawing space ships, fast cars and cowboys, launching O’Shea Illustration in 1998. He lives with his wife, Jan, in Portland, Oregon and has two children. He misses tumbleweeds and the dry heat of his old stomping grounds of eastern Washington.
